Inside Scotty Cam’s stunning 154-year-old country home makeover as he renovates alongside contestants from The Block

Move over, fools. Scotty Cam took on the challenge of renovating a house all by himself.

In a surprise twist on The Block’s 18th season, the host took on the combined role of running the show while also being given his own country retreat to build.

The house, according to Nine, is a “snowboard house” that was built in 1866 by a Scottish immigrant named Joseph McGeorge.

Scotty Cam, 59, took on the combined role of hosting The Block while receiving his own country retreat to renovate

Scotty, 59, had a head start on the rest of the contestants, starting three months early as the farmhouse had been desolate for over 25 years and was left ‘in pieces’.

Scotty will continue to renovate the property as the Blockheads renovate their homes each week.

Viewers will also get a chance to see the revelations from Scotty’s bedroom.

His lead has led the builder to tweak three rooms so far, including a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette.

The property currently appears to be covered in scaffolding – with the exterior walls, roof and veranda completely torn and ready for renovation.

As for the bedroom, Scotty transformed the sleeping space from dull to fabulous, giving the room a modern farmhouse vibe with navy blue painted panels on the walls and a rattan bed frame.

Scotty continued the navy theme in the bathroom, where he radically transformed a once grubby area into once clean and spacious, with handsome white splashback tiles and a freestanding tub.

The bathroom has been completely modernized while keeping the theme of a heritage property.

The kitchenette seemed to have needed the most work – with remnants of old cooking utensils still on the tables and a sterile oven, the cooking and dining space needed quite a clean.

And the renovator did just that, turning the dirt-filled room into an amazing, unrecognizable kitchen.

The cozy space retained navy themes in furniture and decor, while Scotty opted for beige wainscoting paired with wooden floors.

The kitchenette appears to be complete with a bar fridge and under cabinet lighting.

It was revealed late last year that Scotty would be renovating his own home on the show.

The Block smashed the ratings on Sunday night’s season premiere, likely due to controversy over new contestants Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull quitting after two days.

The engaged couple’s abrupt exit followed Joel’s mother’s hospitalization after a fall.

Series host Scotty Cam denounced their ‘apology’ for leaving and chastised their behavior as ‘poor p**s’ and ‘un-Australian’.
