EXCLUSIVE: After a year starring in another hit comedy, a much-discussed limited series, and a festival sweetheart, Melissa McCarthy is looking to add a TV co-host to her dance card. Deadline has learned Discovery + has ordered the six-episode series The Great Giveback With Melissa McCarthy and Jenna Perusich, who reunites the duo following their other home improvement series, celebrity debt recognition, on HGTV.
In the new series, the couple will combine their desire to help others and their love of renovation and design to surprise amazing people with beautiful home transformations. Before they roll up their sleeves, grab hammers, rearrange rooms, and amaze unsuspecting subjects with the news that they will receive custom redesigns, the cousins will learn the heartwarming stories of exceptional people who have been named by their relatives. Then, powered by the inspiring stories, and with the help of their team of experts, the cousins will activate their creativity and passion to stun owners with remarkable revelations. The series will air on Discovery + in late spring 2022.
The series will be produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment, with Drew and Jonathan Scott and McCarthy as executive producers.

Even with its different look from other McCarthy projects, the audience is still there, making it # 2 in content and the # 1 new movie on Netflix in its opening weekend.
McCarthy and her production partner and husband Ben Falcone remain active in producing projects for their production company On the Day Productions. While remaining focused on producing projects in which she would play as Thunder force and Nine perfect strangers, the two were also drawn to projects the public might not have expected from their company. They recently produced the feature documentary Bob Ross: Happy accidents, betrayal and greed, revolving around the iconic painter and the legal fight that lasted long after his death. He has received critical acclaim and is also considered an awards season contender.
McCarthy is replaced by CAA and MGMT.
